7-Pin Trailer Plug
What You need
Your vehicle must have a 7-pin trailer connector that provides constant 12V power.
How to Check
- Confirm your vehicle has a 7-pin connector near the hitch.
- With the vehicle running, use a test light or multimeter to verify the 12V power pin is live (typically at the 1 o’clock position when the cover is on top; at 7 o’clock if the cover is on the bottom).
- If power isn’t present, a local auto shop can usually enable it quickly.
Good to know
- Some vehicles require dealer activation or an accessory wiring kit for the 12V feed.
- Many vehicles are pre-wired but missing the 12V charge-line fuse from the factory.
- Power availability may depend on the ignition being in RUN or ACC, and varies by vehicle.
